Upstate

The Park City Institute is partnering with Mountain Town Music to present this free community event. The support provided to the local performing arts community by our patrons, Summit County, Park City Municipal, and the State of Utah has set the stage for the return of live shows to our community once again!

Theater

The Eccles Center is the largest theater in Park City, Utah with 1,269 seats. It is home to Park City Institute's Main Stage Season from October through April each year, presenting a broad range of world-class performing arts from international dance companies to Broadway icons to beloved author/humorists to virtuosos in a host of musical styles from Chamber Music to rock'n'roll.

Health and Safety

The Park City Institute and the Park City School District have taken measures to assure the health and safety of our patrons, staff, and performers. These include updated HVAC, touchless restrooms, electronic ticketing, electronic programs, all volunteers and staff to be fully vaccinated, enhanced cleaning, and empty seats. We ask that anyone attending a show that is not fully vaccinated wear a mask at all times in the building.

Upstate

It takes time to come into focus. Upstate—a band nearly ten years in the making— is finding its essence. Founding members Mary Webster, Melanie Glenn, Harry D’Agostino, and Dean Mahoney have grown older and wiser over these years, motley in their pasts, yet ever-evolving in their presents. Having cut their teeth together as artists and musicians over hundreds of shows and two studio albums, including 2019’s acclaimed collection ‘healing,’ their four individual artistic visions and distinct musical voices have grown into a whole more significant than the sum of its parts.

At times, Upstate has been known for a large ensemble of eclectic instruments and musicians, while at others for featuring dazzling three-part vocal harmonies. They’ve weaved genres and grooves from across time and across the map but always filtered through the region of the world they call home in the Hudson River Valley of New York State. They’ve captured audiences in large concert halls and intimate living rooms. They’ve been invited to share stages with heroes like The Wood Brothers and Lake Street Dive while putting in their ten thousand hours as local dive bar staples. They’ve performed at countless festivals across the United States, at times, as the first act of the afternoon, and yet with all odds against them, Upstate has learned to run the tables, bringing audiences to their feet and joy to their souls.

Entering a new decade in tumultuous times, Upstate has grown to understand themselves both individually and as a unit and find gratitude in being able to play their role in the circle of the song. And through that revelation have recommitted themselves to the values of truth-telling and authenticity above all. Upstate has always been a band that writes honest songs, but 2020 is shaping up to be their most truthful year yet. Audiences can count on what the group has always been known for: musicianship, harmony, and a “leave-it-all-up-there” show. They can also expect something that’s both new and years in the making—a band that’s coming into focus.
